Carpenter


This position involves carpentry work on a wide variety of historic restoration projects and requires 1 to 5 years experience.  Examples of past projects, which are similar in scope to future ones, are posted here.  Some future projects include cemetery restoration, timber frame restoration, and new timber frame construction along with historic stair, porch, and window repair.


It is imperative that successful candidates place a high emphasis on, and have an understanding of, the importance of exceptional quality craftsmanship and historically accurate restoration work.  A willingness to learn about historic preservation is essential.


This position requires a flexible work schedule which will vary based on project needs.  A 40-hour work week is typical.  Projects are generally within the triangle area but traveling throughout North Carolina, and occasionally in South Carolina and Virginia, will be necessary.  Current projects are in Louisburg, Raleigh, Wilmington, and McCormick, SC.  Reliable transportation is required.


Interested candidates must own their own tools or be able to purchase them.  Salary is commensurate with experience.  There are currently no benefits available with this position.
